La Montagne Bourbonnaise, situated in the south-east of the department Allier (and only 20 mins from the chateau), are a range of beautiful gently rolling mid altitude mountains between the "Bois Noirs" and "Monts de la Madeleine".
The calm and natural beauty of the area provide for a relaxing afternoon. This region needs to discovered on foot, there are many walks of varying length and intensity marked out; or by car. You will discover rolling mountains covered with forest, the peaks towering over the valleys filled with many streams abundant with trout and picturesque villages.
